Houston Rolls Out Homeowner Reimbursement Program for Harvey Recovery

With extensive expertise in both construction and engineering, Karun Sreerama founded and leads SRRE Developers and Builders in Houston. Dedicated to supporting the city’s recovery post-Hurricane Harvey, Karun Sreerama has poured much of his energy into expanding the supply of affordable housing.

Beginning in the fall of 2018, residents whose homes sustained damage in Hurricane Harvey will be able to apply to the City of Houston for reimbursement for some of their home repair expenses.

The reimbursements sought through the Homeowner Reimbursement Program must be “reasonable”; in other words, they must be typical costs associated with modest repairs. Damage to luxury items, such as marble countertops, Jacuzzis, pools, or high-end appliances, is not eligible for reimbursement. In addition, homeowners cannot claim labor costs for work they did themselves. The City of Houston will inspect properties of people submitting claims to verify the work completed.

McCombs School of Business Offers Dynamic, Collaborative Program

The founder of Houston-based SRRE Developers and Builders, Dr. Karun Sreerama has dedicated a good portion of his post-Harvey building efforts to increasing Houston’s supply of affordable housing. In addition to a PhD in civil engineering from the University of Missouri-Rolla, Dr. Karun Sreerama holds an MBA in management from the McCombs School of Business at The University of Texas at Austin.

Students at McCombs are instantly integrated into a dynamic, collaborative atmosphere alongside faculty members and peers who challenge them to be their very best. Upon starting the MBA program, students are placed into carefully selected cohorts with people who represent different states, cultures, business concentrations, and educational backgrounds. The cohorts navigate the first-year curriculum together and spend time dialoguing about the materials and their application to the real world.

The optional MBA+ Leadership Program helps students with extra ambition strengthen their leadership style to increase their management confidence. The supplementary program includes expert-led seminars, one-on-one mentoring opportunities, and micro-consulting projects to gain experience.
